Handcrafted in Brisbane for Over 35 Years
At Bywater Design, we have been crafting custom timber furniture since 1986, combining traditional woodworking techniques with the finest Australian hardwoods. Stuart Bywater, a degree-qualified furniture maker trained at the Canberra School of Art, now part of the Australian National University, leads every project with the kind of deep technical knowledge and design sensibility that only comes from a lifetime dedicated to the craft.
What We Create
Our portfolio spans a wide range of bespoke commissions, including dining tables with matching chairs, Art Deco inspired media units, entertainment cabinets, boardroom tables with inlaid timbers or company logos, and mid-century style credenzas and sideboards. Every piece is designed to perfectly suit your space, your purpose, and your aesthetic.
We work with you from first concept through to completion, including design consultation, material selection, fabrication, and delivery to your door. We serve clients across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and beyond.
The Timbers We Work With
We source premium and sustainable Australian hardwoods wherever possible, including Tasmanian Oak, Silky Oak, Silver Ash, Mahogany, Rosewood, and reclaimed or recycled timbers. Each species brings its own character, warmth, and story to a piece. We will guide you through the options and help you choose the timber that is right for your vision.
