A wooden Stand Up Paddle Board (or SUP) is a beautiful thing ~functional, strong, and undeniably striking.

Built using tradtitional methods we use for our hollow wooden surfboards, timber paddle boards offer a blend of performance and craftsmanship: natural flex and strength, a smooth, stable ride, long lasting durability, and a one of a kind aesthetic you simply can’t replicate with foam.

Every board is shaped by hand, which means your SUP will reflect your body, your paddling style, and the conditions you plan to use it in and whether that’s flatwater cruising on a calm river, coastal exploring along rocky shorelines, or catching gentle downwind days on open water your timer SUP will effortlessly guide and glide you through your chosen waterways

Our surfboard classes are deliberately small and hands-on, giving you flexibility in board design and plenty of individual guidance.

If your goal is to build a timber SUP, we’ll work with you before the class to finalise key decisions such as length, width and thickness; volume and stability requirements; timber selection; fin setup; and the intended use of the board.

From there, you’ll be guided through the full process in our Brisbane workshop. We guide and teach you the whole way, in a stress free and fun learning environment.

The Timber Masterclass homewares workshop is back for another date

October 18 Saturday from 8 - 1 come and join in the fun and learning with a wonderful morning spent learning all about woodwork and creating something beautiful for yourself

This relaxed yet productive workshop is perfect for beginners and those looking to build their confidence with tools and timber.

You will design and carve your own timber salt and pepper shakers, round , square or oval - your design and your finish

This is just perfect for anyone looking to gain confidence with tools , shaping , finishes and just getting a good grounding for the wonderful world of woodworking

We only have a few positions , so we do urge you to enrol asap !!

We are excited for our first Introduction to Woodworking class which begins this Saturday

For the next two weekends, our budding students will learn from the master craftsman (Stuart) .

They will learn the fundamentals of woodworking, increase their knowledge of timber species , hone in on their skills as a designer and create a beautiful piece of furniture for themselves.

There is nothing like hands on learning and for the next two Saturdays that is exactly what its all about…

Timber Master Class - a new Bywater Design woodworking workshop

We have been sharing our passion and knowledge of woodworking for well over 15 years in our classes.

Our introduction to Woodworking 2 Day Workshop is a popular option for many budding and experienced woodworkers, with coursed dotted through out the year.

This year we have added another class to our calendar

The Timber Homewares Masterclass

This little gem of a class is a half day event that packs a lot into the morning.

In this half day workshop, students will learn proper use of woodworking hand tools from master craftsman, gain knowledge and confidence in the woodworking workshop as well as hone in shaping skills - crafting their own timber salt and pepper shakers as well as be able to competently identity certain timber species - not bad for a few hours of learning and fun.

Once again we like to keep these classes small ( 6 students maximum) to ensure a productive yet relaxed learning environment.

Our March 23 class has sold out and so we are pleased to add an additional date to the 2024 calendar

Saturday June 22.
