WHATS HAPPENING LATELY
Fresh Beginnings
There’s something about the fresh blooms of spring that feel like a fresh start.
These simple daisies, are a gorgeous reminder that beauty often lies in the little things.
Here in the workshop, spring inspires us too - bringing in fresh new ideas for projects and ideas that spark creativity .
Here’s to a brand new season filled with fresh ideas and new growth
Summer Vibes only, what we are loving already .
Well here we are in the last month of the rollercoaster known as 2020 !
We are working busily away at projects to complete before Christmas, when we will take some time out to rest and recharge .
But as the days get longer and the nights warmer , its always nice to take some time and appreciate the little things around us.
Summer blossoms making those blue sky days even more beautiful
Those early morning walks capturing the freshness and quiet of the morning sun
What is a Sunday without fresh fish and chips ? and perhaps a scallop or two
Long days and balmy afternoons are the time for a cocktail or two !
December is always frenetic so we hope you get to capture a few moments of quiet and peace.

What we loved in November
As we are well and truly into the last month of the DECADE !! It is always worthwhile to relfect back on the past month and gather the gratitude for the last 30 days
The first flush of summer , is there anything sweeter than the scent of Frangipanis
The purple parade, making the day that much prettier
When your coffee is hot and strong. The day is off to a good start
When it rains, it pours .
The sound of rain was long overdue and the ping pong of hail on the roof signalled once again that summer storms are back, and lets hope with a lot more rain to come.
“Every summer has its story “ and we cant wait to see what unfolds this season
What we are loving in September
As the weather still can’t decide what it wants to do, windy days, warm day, average weather days and still NO rain, we can only but embrace the moments and the sunshine , as it is truly the little things that have the biggest impact …
Slow mornings , when the sun is shining and the coffee is strong and maybe a treat or two
Taking time for a builders brew, watching that great afternoon light creep into the workshop
When you look out and capture that eerie glow from a dusty day , hoping for a rainy day
Enjoying a balmy night out , enjoying the city at night
”Little moments become tomorrow’s precious memories “

Salvaging Silky Oak ...
Exciting times ahead for Bywater Design, as previously mentioned we are busily creating new work for our gallery.
We strive to follow our ethos of using reclaimed and salvaged timber wherever and whenever we can and by using recyled timber we are contributing to saving our plantations as well as using something that may be destined for the scrap heap.
More often than not resalvaged timber has a charm and a wonderful patina all of its own, and with age comes beauty and character, timber is no different.
Currently we are in the process of using some salvaged Silky Oak and making some small items of furniture with it.
Silky Oak (Grevillea Robusta ) is an ideal timber to use for furniture making, its warm pink lustre, and detailed grain make for a wonderful finished product.
Its durability for most types of climate make it wonderful for the Queensland Climate.

Our aim is to create quality, original beautiful timber furnishings made from ethically sourced timber .
Proudly Australian made of course.
It all starts with this…
Rich aromatic Camphor Laurel
simple curves make for a strong statement
Using the natual beauty of the grain, gorgeous camphor laurel platter
It starts off with a slab of timber and becomes something quite beautiful.
Without embelishments , without distractions the camphor laurel platter lets the grain do all the talking
